It's what some fans don't want to hear, but the fact is that popular northern Nigeria singer, Nazir Ahmed who people know as Sarkin Waka has spent the last 24 hours in Kurmawa Prison in Kano State
On Wednesday, a court in Kano State said the singer should be taken to prison until he meets the bail conditions he was given.
Sarkin Waka's problem is with Kano Censorship Board over two songs 'Gidan Sarauta' and 'Sai Hakuri' that he released without licence, but some people said it's because he criticised Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje in one of the songs.
As he was being carried to the prison, the singer did a Whatsapp voice note where he said, he's ready to spend his life in prison for what he believes in.
"What is happening to me isn't surprising, because of what I stand for, I'm ready to spend the remaining parts of my life in prison. I won't give up and Nigerian youths shouldn't give up." Nazir said.
His brother and film maker, Aminu Saira said, the issue is just that the government just have something against Sarkin Waka if not what's happening don't suppose happen.
The popular singer got the title of 'King of singers' (Sarkin Waka) from former kano emier sanusi lamido
