Schools Should Not Reopen In The Year Of 2021 Until FG Tackles These2 Problems

Honestly, a critical look at the recent happenings in the country has triggered my opinion which says that, “all primary and secondary schools should go on strike in 2021”.

It is good that most primary and secondary schools have closed for the year while some have been ordered to vacate. In my own view, they should all go on strike in 2021 until the government tackles these two challenges that are facing the country.

1 Rise in Covid-19 cases.

Recently, the country recorded the highest number of daily covid-19 cases since the outbreak in Nigeria. NCDC on Thursday, 17th December 2020 announced that 1,145 new confirmed covid-19 cases and 1 death were recorded in the country hence, this made the government to officially declare second wave of covid-19. The rise in covid-19 cases is a sufficient reason for primary and secondary schools to go on strike in 2021. The lives of school children should not be jeopardized in 2021 hence, I opine that they should remain at home in 2021 until the curve of covid-19 is flattened.

2 Insecurity Issues

The insecurity issues facing the country need to be tackled before schools resume in 2021. The abduction of Kankara students, who were later released, should be an eye opener to the government to do its best to make the country more secure for school children. In this regard, I opine that all primary and secondary schools should go on strike in 2021 until the government works on the security of the nation.

Having considered these two challenges facing the country, are you in support of the opinion that all primary and secondary schools should go on strike in 2021? Share your opinion in the comment section below.
